Duties
- Provide direct patient care by performing assessments, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs across multiple healthcare environments.
- Assist with complex procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization, wound suturing, and airway management to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations to support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive case management.
- Support patients with specialized needs such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice services, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Perform specimen collection/processing and participate in infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), trauma centers (Level I & II), and pediatric units like PICU or neonatal ventilator care.
- Educate patients and their families on health coaching, medication administration, discharge planning, and post-acute care strategies to promote recovery and well-being.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU, emergency room, trauma centers, or hospital medicine.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonates, or individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs.
- Ability to perform advanced nursing procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, sterile processing techniques, and ventilator support.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication for delivering holistic care in urgent care or outpatient settings.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting patients using Hoyer lifts or operating medical equipment like cardiac catheterization tools or sonography devices.
