Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens using histological laboratory techniques, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Perform immunohistochemistry and other specialized laboratory procedures to identify specific cellular components.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and CLIA regulations.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory information systems (LIS) for specimen tracking and data entry.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are maintained during specimen handling to prevent contamination.
- Assist with specimen collection and processing in hospital or clinical settings when required.
- Support quality control measures by adhering to laboratory standards, verifying reagent integrity, and calibrating equipment regularly.
- Collaborate with pathologists and medical staff to interpret results and ensure accurate diagnosis or research data.
Requirements
- Proven clinical laboratory experience with a focus on histotechnology or pathology laboratories.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques including immunohistochemistry, histological staining, and tissue processing.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures compliant with CLIA regulations and safety standards.
- Experience working within hospital or research laboratory environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for specimen management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology principles.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy or specimen collection when necessary; knowledge of vital signs and patient care is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and adherence to laboratory SOPs are essential for success in this role.
