About the District

About the Position

Springfield Public Schools seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach at Thurston High School.  To support this work, successful candidates will possess the following characteristics that support our vision of Every Student, Every Day and share our values:

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

• Previous High School basketball coaching experience;
• Effective communication skills;
• Work schedule that allows for flexibility with practice and game schedules;
• NFHS/OSAA certified and First Aid certified;
• Willingness to work within the school and athletic guidelines;
• Ability to organize a complete basketball program grades 9-12;
• Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity.
• Fundraising knowledge and/or capabilities;
• Ability to be District Van Certified; 
• Understanding of OSAA rules and regulations;
• Ability to work with parents and booster clubs.
