As a Senior Compliance Analyst in the Exceptional Learning and Related Services Department, you are responsible for ensuring the district’s educational programs, especially those serving students with exceptional needs, consistently follow all federal, state, and local regulations. The Senior Compliance Analyst serves as the district’s resource on compliance issues, supporting staff and leadership in maintaining high standards and protecting student rights.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure departmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to exceptional learning, including but not limited to IDEA and Massachusetts special education laws.
- Utilize internal compliance systems, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required reports and documentation.
- Review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Serve as subject matter resource for staff regarding compliance standards, policy interpretation, and regulatory updates.
- Assist in the organization and scheduling of professional development and training for staff on compliance-related topics.
- Assist with the development and revision of procedures to enhance IEP compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and discretion in sensitive, confidential issues and projects.
- Collaborate with school administrators and support staff when communicating on behalf of the Exceptional Learning Department
- Communicate with parents/guardians, and representatives from other school districts regarding incoming students who require support from the Exceptional Learning Department.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by Department Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or administration (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in special education compliance, school administration, or a related area; experience in K-12 public education preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience conducting compliance reviews, audits, or investigations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience practicing conflict resolution/mediation in a mid-size to large environment
- Proficiency with relevant software and data management systems.
