Title: Recess Monitor- Crissey Elementary (2 Hours)
Reports To: Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent
Employment Status: 9 Months
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Record of good attendance and strong work ethic.
3. Evidence of good moral character as established in section 3301-20-03 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
4. Ability to work with students, staff, and community members.
5. Willingness to participate in future training.
6. Willingness to follow assigned work schedule.
7. Knowledge of safety regulations and precautions for work environment.
8. Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate.
General Description:
Maintain a conducive environment on the playground that promotes respect, responsibility, preparation and safety. Work with the teachers, counselors, administrators, and other monitors to provide consistency with rules and procedures.
Essential Functions:
1. Supervises students during recess time.
2. Maintains recess safety according to school’s guidelines.
3. Uses Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports to model and promote appropriate behavior throughout the recess period.
4. Complies with rules and regulations established for all other employees in the building.
5. Must attend training when offered by the district.
6. Works with the teachers, counselors, and administrators to provide consistency with rules and procedures. Works with parents, teachers and students in communicating appropriate recess behavior and implements appropriate Level 1 behavior procedures.
7. Works as a team to create a positive environment for all students.
8. Attends to any matter deemed appropriate by the building principal.
9. Communicates as needed with all staff to ensure a team approach to problem solving.
10. Helps maintain safety and security in/outside the building.
11. Accesses and responds to electronic communication (i.e., website, email, voice mail,etc.) daily.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as responsible citizens.
2. Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
3. Responsible for clocking in and out each day.
4. Reports absence into online reporting system
5. Remains compliant with district policies regarding alcohol and substance use/abuse. (example: PO 4122.01 and PO 4170)
6. Conducts all work in a safe and responsible manner.
7. Conducts other duties as assigned by the building principal.
Additional Working Conditions:
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
4. Regular requirements to reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, stoop and kneel.
5. Occasional lifting of 15-30 pounds.
6. Lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and materials.
7. Other duties as assigned which relate to the smooth operation of the playground and recess by the building principal and/or designee.
