Duties
- Conduct thorough intake assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Provide evidence-based behavioral interventions, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), to support individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications as prescribed, and document all medical and behavioral data accurately within electronic health records (EHR).
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies to manage acute behavioral episodes safely and effectively.
- Support clients with trauma-related conditions such as PTSD through specialized care approaches tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, special educators, and medical professionals—to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Assist with medical procedures such as vital signs collection, first aid, CPR, and medication administration when necessary.
- Engage in data collection efforts to track progress, inform treatment adjustments, and evaluate client outcomes over time.
- Support clients’ social skills development and provide guidance on behavior management strategies in various settings.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder.
- Demonstrated expertise in mental health care for individuals with trauma-related conditions like PTSD.
- Background in special education or addiction counseling is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with crisis management techniques, crisis intervention protocols, and de-escalation methods.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for efficient medical records management; understanding of medical terminology is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or behavioral health challenges is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in behavior intervention strategies is a plus.
