Assistant Cross Country Coach
SPRINGBORO HIGH SCHOOL
SUMMARY: This person will be employed on a one (1) year supplemental contract, which expires at the end of the school year, to serve as Assistant Coach of Cross Country. Responsible in assisting supervising student activities, and following all district/building policies associated with this activity. Reports to Athletic Director.
DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Responsible and assists all practice sessions and scheduled games.
2. Work in cooperation with other staff members and Athletic Director.
3. Distribute, collect and inventory all equipment/uniforms.
4. Keep all necessary records and forms.
5. Provide leadership and direction to students involved in this activity.
6. Promote school and student pride by requiring players to behave in an appropriate and respectful manner when dealing with officials, players, coaches, spectators or any other school personnel.
7. Maintain locker room facilities in a clean and presentable manner. Will be responsible to check locker room after each practice/meet and report any concerns.
8. Promote sportsmanship and goodwill at all times.
9. Perform other functions as necessary to implement goals and objectives of the athletic programs.
10. Coaching activities on school grounds are limited to this supplemental unless another supplemental contract is secured. (This includes camps and other individual programs that could directly benefit the coach.)
11. Each coach shall support his team's fundraising effort by organizing volunteer staffing of the concession stands and lead by example by co-participating in concession operations while the team's volunteers are working. At least one coach shall be present for the entire shift each time the team's volunteers are working.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid teaching certificate/license (preferred)
- Prior supervisory experience and/or knowledge of cheerleading preferred.
- Ability to work with young students and provide a positive influence on their lives.
- Maintain current Pupil Activity Supervisor validation and CPR training certificate as required by Board policy and the Ohio Department of Education.
- Must pass criminal background check.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Effective Date: 2026/2027 school year
- Length of Employment: One-year supplemental contract.
- Salary: According to the negotiated agreement.
