Duties
DUTIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as an advocate for gifted students and assures that those gifted students' needs are met.
- Serves as a resource person for ideas and materials to help general education classroom teachers modify content, process, or product to meet identified student needs in the general education classroom.
- Develops appropriate curricula based on content standards, student ability, achievement, and needs.
- Provides instruction to assigned students; prepares and implements daily lesson plans in collaboration with the general education classroom teacher.
- Pulls together flexible groups for service to identified students of superior cognitive ability, specific academic achievement, creative thinking ability, or visual/[performing arts talent to provide instruction, seminars, or field-based experience.
- Assists in developing and implementing Written Educational Plans (WEP).
- Maintains regular communication with teachers, parents, students, and administrators about the involvement and progress of the student as outlined in the WEP.
- Actively participates in the identification of students. Reviews test scores and other criteria with the gifted services coordinator.
- Assists guidance counselors and principals in the appropriate education placement of gifted students.
- Maintains accurate student records. Evaluates students as directed.
- Help provide ongoing staff development at the school site about the academic, emotional and social needs as well as characteristics of gifted students.
- Offer guidance and support to parents of gifted students about the academic, emotional, and social needs as well as characteristics of gifted students.
- Attends and schedules parent-teacher conferences and informational meetings with students, parents, community, and supervisors.
- Attends professional conferences and workshops and shares information with colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Valid Ohio Certificate/License with Gifted Education endorsement.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- Effective Date: 2026/2027 school year
- Length of Employment: One Year Limited Contract
- Salary and Fringe Benefits: Based on the current negotiated agreement.
