What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director position at Spring Oak Management?

Assist in organizing and executing engaging activity programs under the direction of the Director of Activities or Executive Director. Support residents in programs that encourage socialization, learning, and personal growth.
\n- Assists in the coordination of volunteer programs and oversight of resident services, including shopping trips, beauty salon scheduling, and group outings.
- Assists the Director in setting departmental goals and objectives, developing systems to support these targets, and recommending and implementing improvements to ensure program success.
- Promotes positive community relations by actively contributing to initiatives that enhance public perception and increase awareness of the facility’s programs.
- Assists in escorting residents on field trips and may transport residents using the company vehicle, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assists with maintaining a current list of residents’ birthdays and ensures timely delivery of birthday cards to celebrate each resident’s special day.
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, and individuality in all resident interactions.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident and family information
- Invite and remind residents to participate in activities
- Upholds honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all responsibilities.
- Builds positive relationships through active listening, dignity, and mutual respect.
- Promotes a positive work environment by supporting facility policies and fostering loyalty among staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the facility’s overall mission and the well-being of its residents.
- Attends Facility meetings and in-services.
- Facilitates monthly Resident Council Meetings and retains minutes and attendance.
- Attends outside programs in regard to activity ideas and regulations.
- High school diploma required; three years of experience in activity therapy within a senior community preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in planning and implementing therapeutic programs.
- Compassionate and knowledgeable about the aging process.
- Effective oral communication in English; able to interact with residents, families, staff, visitors, and government agencies.
- Able to move, lift, carry, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, and assist with resident transfers using proper body mechanics.
- Must possess functional sight and hearing or prosthetics to meet job requirements.
- Physically and emotionally capable of managing job-related stress and risks, including exposure to communicable diseases and occasional resident combativeness.
- Actively enhances community relations, fosters positive public perception, and raises awareness of the facility's programs.
- Must be able to push wheelchairs, walkers, and assist residents with transfers.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
$50,000 - $50,000 a year
