Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients within our behavioral health and recovery setting. This position supports the Director of Nursing (DON) and the clinical team by ensuring safe medication administration, accurate documentation, and effective coordination of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being
- Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Collaborate with the nursing team to maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
- Communicate treatment plans and updates to providers and interdisciplinary team members
- Identify and report areas of non-compliance; participate in staff training as needed
- Complete daily nursing checklists, chart audits, and required reports
- Provide thorough handoffs during shift changes to ensure continuity of care
- Monitor and report high-risk patients or changes in condition to providers
- Administer medications safely and efficiently following all protocols
- Perform narcotic counts, maintain medication inventory, and coordinate with pharmacy as needed
- Conduct weekly urine drug screens and process lab results, reporting findings to providers
- Support infection control, safety, and compliance standards within the facility
- Assist with administrative and clinical duties assigned by the DON
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient care projects
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing in the state of practice
- BLS certification required
- Associate degree in nursing or equivalent education preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment preferred
- Experience in chemical dependency/addiction treatment strongly preferred
- Personal passion for supporting individuals in recovery
- Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use
- Leaders in active recovery must have a minimum of 2 years of sobriety
