The Production Mechanic Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems with minimal supervision. This role ensures equipment reliability, supports preventative maintenance programs, and upholds all safety, quality, and GMP standards to keep operations running efficiently. Responsibilities also include supporting refrigeration and ammonia‑system operations to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable performance.
The duties listed below are representative of the types of responsibilities required for the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the organization:
- Repairs, maintains, and adjusts a wide variety of machines, equipment, and facility systems with minimal supervision.
- Supports operation, inspection, and basic troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia‑based systems, while following all IIAR, PSM, and safety requirements. Reports any irregularities or alarms immediately.
- Assists the Maintenance Supervisor with ordering parts, supplies, and materials.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with established programs and timelines, including refrigeration system PMs when assigned.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, operating manuals, and schematics to accurately complete work assignments.
- Reports equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or facility issues to the Maintenance Supervisor promptly, including refrigeration or ammonia‑system abnormalities.
- Completes all required maintenance documentation, logs, and reports accurately and on time.
- Ensures all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, GMPs, and company policies.
- Follows all food safety, legal, and quality policies, including GMPs, food security, and product quality requirements.
- Adheres to Lockout/Tagout procedures and all safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintains clean and organized work areas in alignment with good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or an A.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Strong knowledge in welding, cutting, brazing, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, carpentry, electrical systems, refrigeration, boilers, masonry, and food‑manufacturing equipment.
- Understanding of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia‑based systems, basic PSM principles, emergency response protocols, and safe handling practices.
- Proven ability to read and interpret product manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast‑paced, production‑focused environment.
