Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Duty Vehicles (Bus Experience a Plus)
Responsibilities:
- Support a team of diesel mechanics in daily maintenance and repair operations
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel vehicles, including transit and coach buses
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and drivetrain issues
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and DOT regulations
- Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians
- Coordinate with parts and service managers to ensure timely job completion
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Provide high-level customer service by communicating clearly with clients and internal teams
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic, ideally in a leadership or senior role
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, electrical systems, and aftertreatment systems
- Bus experience is preferred but not required—will train the right candidate with heavy truck or equipment background
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagnostic tools
- Welding and fabrication experience a plus
- Must be physically capable of lifting heavy components and working in shop or field environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
