Instructional Designer

SUMMARY
Responsible for the design and development of online and blended courses which include course materials, activities, assessments to create an engaging learner-centered experience within the learning management system (LMS). The Instructional Designer will work collaboratively with the instructional design team, programs, and subject matter experts on the developments and revisions of accredited course curriculum, including for programs with secondary accreditation. Additional responsibilities include assisting with just-in-time training, technology and troubleshooting, and managing the deadlines and deliverables within the course development process. Full-time, remote/hybrid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Design and develop courses using the best practices of instructional design, project management, and an iterative design process such as ADDIE, SAM, etc.
  • Communicate effectively while collaborating with instructional design team, programs, subject matter experts, vendors, and departments/offices across the university.
  • Experience using learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace or Canvas, as well as rapid authoring tools like Articulate Rise 360; HTML experience required.
  • Highly comfortable with cloud storage and permissions in tools like Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Comfortable using generative artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Experience with digital asset creation/editing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Affinity Suite, or Canva.
  • Assist with just-in-time training and problem solving for faculty members regarding technology usage
  • Ensure course quality through copyright review, quality assurance, and alignment textbooks, videos, articles, and online resources.
  • Execute course verification process for assigned courses.
  • Stay on trend with best practices through professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as member of the eLearning staff, reporting directly to the Lead Instructional Designer.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree and instructional design experience in a university setting preferred with experience collaborating with SMEs developing within standard design models (ADDIE). Good organizational, office, word processing, and computer skills required. Ability to prioritize, complete multiple tasks and possess good interpersonal, communication and writing skills. Must be committed to meeting deadlines and completing projects on time and according to stated standards.

Salary : $56,938 - $78,599
