Quality Manager

Job Overview

The Quality Manager for Sprecher Brewing Co.’s primary responsibility is to ensure that products maintain a high level of integrity and GMP’s are being followed. They will liaise with various departments throughout the brewery to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained at every level. The Quality Manager will ideally be a master brewer with experience working in a brewery and brewery lab.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for overall quality of all Sprecher Brewing Co. products and packaging
• Daily testing and analysis of raw materials, in stage and final products to ensure proper specifications are met and of the highest quality
• Work closely with brewing teams and communicate issues
• Ensure compliance with food, ingredient and chemical safety and GMPs
• Ensure continuous improvement and find ways to increase efficiency
• Work with 3rd party laboratories to organize and perform analysis of products as needed
• Create and maintain a safety plan for Sprecher Brewing Company
• Very strong written and verbal communications
• High level computer skills and experience with quality assurance software packages
• Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail
• Incredibly organized and able to design systematic approaches for quality improvement
• Able to work to deadlines and prioritize workload
• Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment

Qualification and Requirements

• Strong background in brewing, beverage or food manufacturing preferred
• Experience in Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field preferred
• Degree in Food Science a plus
• Over 2 years’ experience in a quality control or quality assurance role in the food and beverage industry
• Experience controlling brewing processes and assessing beverage quality
• Knowledge of food production and manufacturing principles
• Management experience a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform all essential functions and physical demands of the job
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally 75 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time on concrete floors and ability to continuously be active including but not limited to: walking, stooping, bending, reaching and crouching.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, while focusing on meeting or exceeding expectations.
