What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Sales | $60K Base + Commission, $350K+ OTE position at SpotOn Roofing and Exterior?
Most roofing companies are a truck, a ladder, and a guy who hopes the phone rings.
We're a sales organization that happens to sell exteriors, and we've tripled every year for three years running. Two locations open right now, two to three more going in. Nobody does this the way we do it, which is exactly why the numbers look like that.
If you've run sales across multiple locations and you're sitting somewhere the ceiling is already built, keep reading.
What we actually do: storm hits central Ohio, we're in the neighborhood before the tarps come off. Insurance claims work, roofs, siding, gutters, windows. Our reps go take the market. We don't buy leads and we don't sit around waiting for the phone.
We run a President's Club every single year. Hit the number and you're on the trip, not getting a gift card and a handshake at the Christmas party.
The money:
$60,000 base, then commission and quarterly bonus on everything your organization produces. $350,000 on target. It comes from override on team production, so the ceiling is whatever you build. If you want a big salary and a small number, this isn't it.
What you'd own:
- The sales number across every location you're over, monthly and quarterly
- Managers and team leaders under you: finding them, training them, cutting the ones who don't produce
- Standing up the next branch, from first hire to a floor that runs without you in the room
- Recruiting into the field sales force, because headcount is the whole game in this business
- KPIs by rep and by manager, tracked weekly in our CRM, reviewed with ownership
- Where we knock after a storm lands, which is the part most companies get completely wrong
Who we want:
You've run sales across at least two locations. Not two teams in one building, two markets, with managers under you in both. Doesn't matter what you sold. Insurance, software, solar, cars, security, home services, roofing, MLM, a call floor, a door program.
What matters is you've built layers under you, held quota in more than one market at once, and can walk into a room of reps who don't know you and have them fired up by the end of the meeting.
Roofing takes six weeks to learn. What you know takes a career.
Who this isn't for:
Anybody who needs a fat base to feel safe. Anybody who manages from a dashboard. Anybody who'd blame a short month on the weather. The hours are long in season and the people who get rich here act like they own the place.
Run multiple locations before? Want the next two instead of the same one for five more years? Apply. We'll talk this week.
