What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Spot On Talent?
Somebody has to make sure the invoices behind the AI buildout actually get paid, and paid right. That somebody could be you!
Join a publicly traded data center services company in Georgetown, Texas that integrates and deploys the AI and high-performance computing infrastructure showing up in headlines right now. Their systems integration business grew 88% year over year last quarter. Their Georgetown AI rack integration facility is scaling. They've added senior leadership to keep pace. Growth like that puts real pressure on an accounting function - and creates real opportunity for the person who helps build it out.
They're hiring an Accounting Specialist, reporting to the Controller, to own accounts payable and grow well beyond it.
What you'll do
Accounts payable is your home base: coding and processing vendor invoices, 3-way matching against POs and receipts, chasing down discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders, co-managing the AP inbox, maintaining vendor records including W-9s and 1099 prep, reconciling AP aging, and supporting weekly ACH, check, and wire runs. You'll also help scan and automate the AP function - this is not a role where you inherit a process and leave it alone. From there it opens up. You'll work in the company's ERP across AR, GL, and expense reporting as priorities shift, support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, assist with account reconciliations and financial statement prep, touch cost accounting and variance analysis, and help with sales and use tax documentation.
You'll also support SOX 404(b) compliance - organizing control documentation, pulling evidence packages for internal and external audit requests, and helping tighten document control procedures.
What you bring
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor's preferred
- 2 years in corporate accounting or bookkeeping, including at least 1 year of corporate AP
- Experience in an ERP accounting system - NetSuite is a plus, not a requirement
- Advanced Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, formula-driven reconciliations
- Solid GAAP foundation and genuine accuracy - the kind of person who catches the thing nobody asked you to look at
- Comfort with SOX-regulated or audit-ready environments (strongly preferred)
- The judgment to handle confidential financial information and correspond professionally with vendors on your own
Why this one is worth a conversation
Public-company accounting experience is hard to get and harder to fake - it follows you for the rest of your career. You'll get SOX exposure, audit exposure, and a close-up view of close in a company small enough that your work is visible to the people running it. Cross-functional by design means you won't be siloed into one ledger for three years.
You'll also be reporting to a Controller who is building a function rather than filling a seat. The company is growing fast enough that the next step up in accounting is a real conversation, not a someday promise - and they'd rather promote the person who already knows how the money moves.
