Role Description
This is a full-time on-site Legal Assistant role located in Salem, OR. We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a fast-paced law office. This role is essential to ensuring the efficient operation of the firm by providing administrative, clerical, and legal support. The Legal Assistant will serve as a key point of contact for clients, courts, and internal staff, while assisting attorneys with case management and document preparation.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. This is a collaborative role within a small office environment where teamwork and reliability are critical.
Wage Range
$25.00 up to $40.00 per hour
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls with professionalism
- Communicate with clients, courts, and external partners via phone and email
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and filings
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, and deadlines
- Assist with client intake, including gathering and documenting relevant information
- File legal documents with courts (electronic and/or physical filing)
- Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks and filings
- Update spreadsheets, case tracking systems, and client records
- Perform general administrative duties such as copying, scanning, and filing
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Administrative Assistant, or similar role preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Experience with legal document preparation and formatting preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience with case management systems or legal software is a plus
