Position Summary
The Marketing Manager owns the day-to-day leadership of Spokane Sports' marketing and communications function. This role is responsible for translating organizational strategy into clear marketing priorities, leading campaign planning and execution, and ensuring brand consistency across events, platforms, and partners.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the Marketing Manager directly manages the Marketing Coordinator and serves as the primary decision-maker for marketing workflows, sequencing, and quality control. This role requires strong judgment, creative sensibility, and the ability to balance speed with quality in a fast-moving, event-driven environment.
The ideal candidate is an experienced marketing leader who is comfortable managing people, guiding creative work, and partnering with external agencies. They can be trusted to run the function day-to-day and represent the Spokane Sports brand with confidence and clarity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing Leadership & Prioritization
- Lead seasonal and annual marketing planning aligned with organizational goals and event priorities.
- Set marketing priorities and sequencing across campaigns, events, and channels.
- Directly manage, coach, and develop the Marketing Coordinator, providing clear direction, feedback, and support.
- Serve as the primary point for marketing decisions and execution questions.
- Ensure day-to-day marketing decisions align with established brand strategy and organizational direction set by leadership.
Campaign Execution & Oversight
- Oversee planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and community platforms.
- Provide clear creative direction and constructive feedback to internal staff and external partners.
- Manage relationships with creative agencies, freelancers, and vendors, including briefing, timelines, and approvals.
- Ensure sponsorship visibility is integrated thoughtfully and consistently across marketing materials and events.
Content & Channel Oversight
- Oversee content planning and quality across social media, email, website, and media channels.
- Guide storytelling approach and messaging without owning routine content execution.
- Ensure marketing outputs are timely, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
Event & Community Marketing
- Lead promotional campaigns for Spokane Sports' events, including Indoor Track & Field and Cross Country seasons.
- Ensure marketing campaigns drive awareness, attendance, and community engagement.
- Develop and implement strategies that connect events to Spokane Sports' broader mission and values.
- Represent Spokane Sports at community events and meetings, strengthening relationships and amplify organizational visibility.
Administration & Reporting
- Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Manage the marketing budget and oversee vendor contracts.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on trends, performance data, and community feedback.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and inspire staff.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to connect day-to-day execution to long-term organizational goals.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, and creative software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent Spokane Sports in public and professional settings.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 years of professional marketing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role preferred.
- Experience working in or closely with an agency or agency-style environment preferred.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Standard office environment with occasional event support responsibilities.
- Ability to sit, stand, and operate a computer for extended periods.
- May occasionally lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds.
- Willingness to adjust schedule for organizational needs, including occasional evening or weekend commitments tied to events.
Compensation & Benefits
Spokane Sports pays a gross hourly wage for this position with a range of $ $35.00/hour based on qualifications, skills, experience, and company values and culture alignment. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical to allow for future and continued compensation growth. Additionally, we offer the following key benefits for this full-time role:
