Conduct hearing and vision screening for students districtwide. Assist with clerical duties including computer data input, related to screening results and tracking of assistive technology. Provide basic support and technical assistance to school staff regarding student audiometric assistive technology.

SALARY: LEVEL 21 on the Support Specialist Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school or another state's public school.
Responsibilities
- Conduct hearing screening for general education students as part of the state mandated screening program as assigned and supervised by the audiologist.
- Conduct hearing and vision screening for students' preschool through high school who have been referred by multi-disciplinary building teams. As assigned and supervised by the Audiologist.
- Complete and maintain accurate records, including computer data input and tracking of assistive technology.
- Arrange testing appointments by contacting parents.
- Provide basic support and technical assistance to school staff regarding student audiometric assistive technology to ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Work cooperatively with students, classroom teachers, special education staff, parents, and administrators while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and activities as appropriate to the position.
- Assist in other duties and assignments as directed by the audiologist or special education coordinator.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
- Must provide high school diploma (or equivalent) AND 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited college, AA or BA degree, OR pass an academically rigorous assessment.
- Must complete Core Competencies within one year if hired into a Paraeducator position (refer to the Paraeducator Collective Bargaining Agreement).
- Successfully complete on-the-job training in audiometric and vision screening.
- Demonstrated ability to complete data entry and maintain related records via computer. A working knowledge of Mircosoft Word and Excel software.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a diverse group of teachers, parents, and administrators in a confidential manner.
- Relates positively to students, preschool through high school and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Access to reliable transportation throughout the day to travel between worksites.
