SPL is looking for a Field Sampling Associate (Energy Lab) to join our team in Williston, ND and support the accurate collection, transportation, and documentation of environmental, gas, liquid, and hydrocarbon samples. In this role, you’ll work both in the field and in the lab, ensuring every sample is collected safely, handled properly, and documented with integrity. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality directly support our clients and the reliability of the data they depend on.

SPL is looking for a Field Sampling Associate (Energy Lab) to join our team in Williston, ND and support the accurate collection, transportation, and documentation of environmental, gas, liquid, and hydrocarbon samples. In this role, you’ll work both in the field and in the lab, ensuring every sample is collected safely, handled properly, and documented with integrity. What You'll Do
- Collect gas, liquid, water, and environmental samples from client sites following established procedures and regulatory standards;
- Prepare sampling containers, labels, and documentation before field collection;
- Preserve and store samples properly to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity;
- Transport samples safely while maintaining full chain-of-custody compliance;
- Operate and maintain sampling equipment, vehicles, and field tools;
- Receive, log, and verify samples entering the laboratory;
- Assist with basic sample preparation and analysis following SOPs and quality guidelines;
- Maintain accurate documentation, field records, and system entries (LIMS);
- Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and quality standards;
- Support cross-training, equipment upkeep, and general operational needs;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field strongly preferred;
- Experience in field sampling, laboratory work, or technical/industrial environments is a plus;
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools and equipment;
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record;
- Solid problem-solving skills, organization, and adaptability;
- Willingness to work in varying outdoor conditions and handle physical activity (lifting up to 50 lbs);
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat;
- Ability to work independently and spend the majority of the day driving between client sites.
- Full-time position following a standard Monday-Friday work schedule;
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours based on workload or client needs;
- Use of appropriate PPE required (provided by SPL);
- Occasional extended walking, climbing, lifting, and outdoor exposure.
