Now, we’re seeking a Corporate Controller to shape the future of our accounting operations and statutory reporting.
Why This Role Matters
You’ll be the senior accounting leader, reporting directly to the CEO, and guiding a seven‑person team through transformation initiatives. From statutory filings to ERP automation, your work ensures compliance, scalability, and strategic alignment across Finance, Legal, Actuarial, Risk, and IT.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Accounting Operations: Oversee GL, close process, intercompany transactions, and statutory reporting under Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
- Drive Compliance: Manage quarterly and annual filings (Yellow Book, premium tax returns) and partner with auditors and regulators (NAIC, TDI).
- Strengthen Controls: Maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies; coordinate audits and state insurance exams.
- Advise on Technical Accounting: Evaluate new products and transactions; monitor emerging standards.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Align with Actuarial on reserves and capital adequacy; support ERP and reporting automation.
- Develop Talent: Mentor and grow a high‑performing accounting team.
What We’re Looking For
- CPA required Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance.
- 5 years progressive accounting experience (Big 4 preferred).
- 2 years in statutory accounting leadership (SAP).
- Insurance industry expertise—life products, reinsurance, NAIC reporting.
- Proven team leadership and transformation experience.
- Strong communication skills for executive and Board presentations.
Nice to Have:
- Lead experience on life statutory filings.
- Familiarity with Multiview ERP or similar systems.
- Collaboration with actuarial and risk teams.
- Exposure to fraternal benefit societies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base: $130K up to $50K performance bonus (annual, tied to statutory compliance, audit outcomes, and system improvements).
