Summary:

The Controller position oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, payroll, job costing, and the development of financial controls. The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate and timely financial information while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The expectations of this position are to provide strategic financial leadership to ownership, improve day-to-day processes and systems, and enhance team performance. Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Oversight
- Oversee all accounting operations for Highpoint Signs & Apparel and related entities.
- Establish a clear financial reporting structure with timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Provide financial insights, forecasting, budgeting, and pricing analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and bank covenants.
- Develop a CapEx and debt management framework for ownership.
Process Improvement & Systems Management
- Lead cleanup and optimization of current QuickBooks and accounting workflows.
- Standardize A/R and collections processes, ensuring consistent follow-up and ownership.
- Improve job costing accuracy, including inventory management, tracking, and integration with production workflows.
- Oversee cash management procedures and implement stronger control processes.
- Drive system improvements, automation, and financial best practices to support scale.
Team Management & Department Restructuring
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
- Define clear responsibilities, training, and accountability across the accounting team.
- Identify opportunities to reduce external bookkeeping dependence.
- Partner with payroll vendors and lead transition to more cost-effective payroll workflows.
Operational Accounting
- Oversee reconciliations, invoice processing, payables, receivables, and collections.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly close across all entities.
- Maintain financial records, chart of accounts, and inter-company allocations.
- Support audits, lender requests, and insurance/financial documentation.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience; 2 years leadership preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred).
- Proven experience improving financial systems, workflows, and controls.
- Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
- Demonstrated integrity and discretion with sensitive financial information.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing, signage, apparel, or job-costing environments.
- Background in multi-entity accounting.
- Experience supporting high-growth companies or reorganized departments.
Must Have:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with no restrictions.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
