Job Summary:
The Database Manager (or Database Administrator) is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s proprietary parts and inventory database. This role ensures data accuracy, integrity, and security while providing actionable insights and reporting for race engineers, crew chiefs, and operational leadership. The Database Manager serves as the technical and process owner for data management across engineering, metrology, quality control, and operations ensuring the team’s systems remain accurate, compliant, and optimized for high-performance racing operations.

- Oversee, maintain, and optimize the team’s central database infrastructure, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
- Validate all data entries for accuracy and completeness; conduct regular audits to ensure system integrity and prevent discrepancies.
- Manage database security protocols, user access levels, and data backup processes to protect sensitive team information.
- Maintain and oversee the proprietary parts and inventory database, ensuring accurate records of all components, assemblies, and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Metrology/QC department to track part mileage, rebuild schedules, service history, and usage limits.
- Ensure all available parts, assemblies, and configurations are documented, serialized, and selectable within the database for engineering and operations users.
- Coordinate with GM and engineering leads to integrate new part designs, approved supplier components, and rule change updates.
- Develop and maintain automated reports and dashboards to deliver real-time data insights to race engineers, crew chiefs, and leadership.
- Provide operational reporting on part availability, readiness, and upcoming race/test/shop build requirements.
- Continuously improve database tools and processes to reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and enhance data accessibility.
- Work closely with engineering, vehicle dynamics, and operational teams to ensure data-driven decision-making.
- Partner with Metrology/QC to maintain traceability standards and quality documentation for serialized components.
- Build relationships with OEM database providers and suppliers, providing feedback for ongoing improvements and integration updates.
- Train and support users on proper database use, data entry protocols, and standard documentation practices.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement within the database structure and data management processes.
- Develop and maintain standardized documentation templates for part tracking, assemblies, and QC records.
- Support technical and operational teams by improving system usability and ensuring alignment with evolving engineering and compliance needs.

- Understanding of relational database structures, part serialization, and configuration management.
- Familiarity with inventory control, QC/QA systems, or motorsports-specific databases is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-departmental collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in database management, administration, or data systems oversight (motorsports, manufacturing, or engineering environment strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in database platforms (SQL, Access, or equivalent) and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- Experience with data automation scripting (Python, VBA, or similar).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move in diverse operational environments, including race shops, race tracks, SIM cells, and office environments.
- Comfortable working in variable environmental conditions, including loud, high-traffic, or high-pressure environments.
- Prolonged periods working at a computer and in a shop environment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and accessing low or awkward spaces.
- Ability to safely work around machinery, shop equipment, and vehicles.
