JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Pool Attendant maintains cleanliness, order, guest satisfaction on the pool and sun decks, walks the resort property, and reports and resolves any potential guest or property safety issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet guests and provide towels, seating, or poolside assistance
- Set up and organize lounge chairs, umbrellas, and pool equipment· Maintain cleanliness of the pool area (deck, chairs, tables, restrooms)
- Monitor pool area for rule compliance (no running, proper attire, etc.)
- Distribute and collect towels, guest items left behind or pool accessories
- Restock supplies such as towels
- Report maintenance issues (broken chairs, dirty water, hazards)
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the pool area
- Provide basic customer service and answer guest questions
- Monitor the guest population at the pool.
- Reference the owners/guests list report to verify pool use as current owners and/or guests on property.
- Be familiar with pool safety equipment and its uses.
- Close pool during signs of threatening weather ensuring umbrellas are all taken down to avoid them from hitting a guest.
- Assist Guests when needed.
- Maintain a presence at the pools and always be visible to the guest and staff.
- Assist and monitor guests in pool area; ensure compliance with all swimming pool rules.
- Assist and control pool activities as directed.
- Follow established policies and procedures, e.g. uniform standards.
- Perform additional or different duties, from those set forth above, to address business needs and changing business practices as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred. Current High School students are eligible.
- Background in hospitality industry preferred
- Customer services related work history preferred.
- Basic knowledge of all pool rules and regulations.
- Ability to safely operate a golf cart.
- Ability to exhibit excellent guest relations skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, employees, and management.
- Ability to speak effectively with guests and co-workers.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to assist and support others using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively perform duties.
- Ability to assist in pool activities as directed.
OPTIONAL SKILLS A PLUS:
- CPR Certified
- Previous Lifeguard Experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIROMENT:
Physical Demands: | Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an active environment; to stand for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 40 pounds of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate information. Specific vision abilities usually required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. |

Working Conditions: | Part-time, seasonal position (20-29 hrs/wk), mid- May-Labor Day; Varied work schedules to include evening, holiday, and weekend hours.

Environment: | The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed both indoors and outside, depending on the season and activity.
