What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC?
Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, a full-service, super-regional law firm with nine offices located in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida is seeking a knowledgeable and technically proficient Senior Accountant in its Charleston, WV headquarters.
Responsibilities include:
· General accounting duties (bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close)
· Coordination of all accounting functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reporting)
· Act as backup for all accounting functions
· Expense management
· Fixed asset inventory and management, including depreciation
· Accounting for corporate trust accounts
· Assist with annual financial audit
· Assist with management and oversight of the firm’s 401(k) plan, including audit preparation
· Assist with management and oversight of the firm’s time and billing system
· Assist with special projects and data analytics
Requirements:
· Must be professional, conscientious, detail-oriented, and highly motivated
· Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance
· Excellent organizational skills
· Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills
· Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
· Desire to continually improve operational excellence
· Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and in a team environment
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills
· Ability to effectively integrate technology to maximize efficiency of the department
