Maintenance Manager

As a Maintenance Manager responsible for planning, communicating and executing repairs, and maintenance of equipment and buildings. This position does require hands-on preventative maintenance, both an aptitude for PLC controls as well as mechanical skills. Leads and perform equipment maintenance duties to ensure quality products are produced, packaged, and prepared for delivery to customers in a safe manner. Maintaining Calibration Schedule of equipment that is used to verify compliance to specifications or used in foreign material control in production process and ensuring necessary calibration / verification / validation certificates are current. Also, you will be required to demonstrate strong knowledge of AC/DC theory, 3-phase motor control systems, and PLCs.
- Train and assist other maintenance mechanics to improve operational efficiency and ensure proper use of personnel and equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance team members to ensure effective maintenance of all production and shipment equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on packing machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and engineering specifications.
- Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and identify sources of failure using diagnostic tools and instruments.
- Reduce downtime by informing production staff of routine maintenance techniques and monitoring adherence.
- Diagnose and modify PLC programs as needed.
- Fabricate and repair parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment; anticipate needs and place orders as necessary.
- Maintain and continually improve technical skills to support equipment maintenance needs.
- Responsible for the setup, start-up, operation, and maintenance of complex high-speed packaging lines and conveyor systems.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance supervisors to ensure lines are properly configured and running to meet goals.
- Ensure lines are clean, lubricated, adjusted, and safe before and during operation.
- Identify and correct mechanical, operational, and electrical problems; request support from other technical personnel when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with procedures and safety regulations.
- Perform work independently with minimal supervision.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma , GED or (Technical / AEE Diploma) a plus, but no required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
- Aptitude for both electrical and mechanical environments as well as familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of fabrication, industrial electricity, control, manufacturing equipment and PLC a must.
- Utilize knowledge and requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Willingness to work eight (8) hour shifts.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends.
Abilities and Skills
- Computer/keyboarding skills for MS Outlook, Red Zone amongst other company applications.
- Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal as well as written communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, control, manage, instruct, and lead others to complete the assigned tasks.
- Manage time effectively, as they may need to handle multiple functions and meet the deadlines consistently.
- Good communication skills and listening skills.
- General knowledge of all aspects of maintenance, repair and service.
