Summary:
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and finished goods inspections within the insulation manufacturing facility. This role ensures all products meet established quality standards, customer requirements, and internal specifications prior to release. The QA Inspector works closely with production teams to identify defects, support corrective actions, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement. This role reports to the Production Supervisor.
Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Inspection & Quality Control
- Perform in-process inspections at designated checkpoints throughout the manufacturing cycle.
- Conduct final inspections of completed insulation jackets to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
- Use measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, rulers, templates, and gauges to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
- Check for proper stitching, material placement, fasteners, labeling, workmanship, and overall product integrity.
- Document inspection results accurately and timely in QA logs, check sheets, or digital systems.
Quality Assurance Processes
- Identify nonconforming materials or products and appropriately tag, document, and quarantine them.
- Communicate defects or trends to the Production Supervisor and production team to support timely corrective actions.
- Assist in root-cause investigations and support corrective and preventive action initiatives as needed.
- Participate in process audits to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Verify that reworked items meet all quality standards before release.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with production operators, leads, and supervisors to prevent quality issues and support continuous improvement.
- Provide feedback on quality discrepancies and update Production Supervisor on quality expectations.
- Escalate critical or recurring defects to the Production Supervisor promptly.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and organized quality inspection records.
- Follow all company quality policies, standards, and safety requirements.
- Support compliance with customer specifications, ISO standards (if applicable), and internal QA procedures.
Education, Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or quality inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual and dimensional defects.
- Basic proficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs. as required by the job.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
Preferred
- Experience in textiles, industrial insulation jackets, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Experience with QA systems, data entry, or digital inspection tools.
- Knowledge of ISO principles or quality management systems.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility environment with exposure to industrial materials, equipment, and moderate noise.
- Frequent standing, walking, and manual inspections throughout the shift.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required as per company policies.
