Strategic Pursuits Specialist
Location: Flexible (Hybrid or 100% Remote, Approved States)
Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 annually (negotiable based on experience)
The Strategic Pursuits Specialist plays a key role in positioning Spheros Environmental for success in competitive, strategic pursuits across our markets. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position serves as a firmwide resource for pursuit strategy and development, working closely with Market Sector Leads, Business Development professionals, and technical experts, this role drives pursuit strategy, storytelling, and proposal development from early positioning through submission. We’re looking for a strategic communicator and trusted collaborator with a passion for helping teams win - someone who can connect client needs with our firm’s expertise, guide teams through complex pursuits, and craft compelling, client-focused narratives that earn attention and trust. This position is a part of our Marketing team and is ideal for a pursuit professional who thrives at the intersection of strategy, collaboration, and communication. Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Market Sector and Business Development Leads to develop and execute pursuit strategies for high-priority opportunities
- Lead pursuit planning and strategy sessions to identify client drivers, differentiators, win themes, and key messages
- Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex technical information into clear, compelling, client-focused narratives
- Coach pursuit teams on messaging, storytelling, and interview delivery to strengthen Spheros’ presence and performance
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Business Development teams to ensure pursuit strategies, messaging, and materials are aligned and seamlessly executed
- Develop and manage pursuit materials, including statements of qualifications (SOQs), proposals, presentations, and interview materials
- Support go/no-go and capture planning processes to help the organization focus resources on the most strategic opportunities
- Ensure brand alignment, message consistency, and quality across all pursuit deliverables
- Track pursuit performance, gather feedback, and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in pursuit strategies, templates, and tools
- Stay informed on market trends, client priorities, and competitor positioning to inform strategic recommendations and proactive positioning efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field - including science, engineering, or technical disciplines - and experience leading pursuit strategy, positioning, and client-focused marketing efforts in professional services
- 7 years of experience in pursuit strategy, capture management, or proposal development within the AEC or environmental consulting industry
- Proven ability to lead strategic pursuits and influence winning outcomes
- Collaborative, organized, and comfortable guiding teams through fast-paced, high-visibility opportunities
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical content into persuasive, client-focused narratives
- Deep understanding of the AEC sales cycle, client engagement, and positioning process
- Highly organized and proactive, with strong strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Proficiency with standard business design and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite)
