About the Role
The Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for establishing and leading enterprise-wide project governance, delivery standards, and portfolio management practices. This role drives strategic alignment across all initiatives, ensuring consistent execution, resource optimization, and measurable business outcomes. Reporting directly as a partner to executive leadership, the Director oversees project managers and cross-functional teams, implements best-in-class project management methodologies, and ensures seamless execution from concept through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Governance Framework: Establish, enforce, and continuously refine PMO structure, delivery standards, and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
- Strategic Alignment: Align the active project portfolio with overarching corporate strategic goals and executive priorities.
- Executive Reporting: Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership regarding portfolio health, performance metrics, and risk mitigation.
- Lifecycle Oversight: Drive full lifecycle management for major projects and programs, ensuring on-time, in-scope, and on-budget delivery.
- Intake & Prioritization: Implement standardized intake, approval, and prioritization processes to balance strategic value against resource capacity.
- People Management: Direct, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and program leaders.
- Performance Management: Define clear KPIs, performance expectations, and career progression pathways while fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and functional leads to ensure cross-departmental execution and clear communication.
- Escalation Point: Act as the primary escalation point for critical project issues, resource bottlenecks, and interdepartmental dependencies.
- Standardization: Develop, maintain, and mandate standardized tools, templates, tracking systems, and reporting frameworks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10 years of progressive project/program management experience. 5 years in a leadership role directly managing project managers or leading a PMO.
- Commercial Construction Experience
- Certifications: PMP required (or strongly preferred). Additional certifications (PgMP, PMI-ACP, Lean, Six Sigma) are a plus.

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
