- Incident Management & Resolution: Guide root cause investigations for injuries, develop sustainable corrective actions, notify top management, and work alongside the onsite nurse to resolve incidents.
- Hazard Control & Prevention: Evaluate hazardous conditions, establish long-range accident prevention goals, and oversee the plant Workers' Compensation, Return to Work, and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs.
- Compliance & Regulation: Assist management with OSHA regulations, coordinate permit filings, manage waste disposal and tank testing, and maintain compliance with FDA cGMP, BRCGS, ISO9001, RCRA, and SARA Title I.
- Leadership & Training: Implement and manage the Safety Committee, serve as the divisional representative with government agencies, and devise and coordinate safety training across the organization.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Safety & Health, or equivalent experience, plus 3 years of professional safety in a manufacturing setting.
- Licensing & Certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status is recommended. Familiarity with Emergency Procedures (First Aid, CPR, Defibrillator) is required.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of federal, state, and local safety laws, OSHA standards, State workers' compensation, State Disability, FMLA, and ADA laws.
- Soft Skills: Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills with the ability to interact effectively across all employee and management levels; excellent organizational and administrative abilities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, talk, or hear more than 2/3 of the time. Requires clear close vision (20 inches or less) and distance vision (20 feet or more).
- Work Environment: Regular exposure (more than 1/3 of the time) to various chemicals and moving mechanical parts. Proper PPE is required for specific jobs.
