Spherion WI & Northern IL is hiring a Business Development Manager to help grow our presence in the greater Fox Valley & Green Bay market.

This is an opportunity to build something from the ground up, backed by a locally owned organization with a 35 year reputation in the region and an established presence across Wisconsin. As we prepare to open our Appleton branch, this role will focus on business development and market expansion - identifying opportunities, initiating outreach, and getting in front of companies that could benefit from our staffing and recruiting solutions.

This is not a desk-based role. You'll be out in the market at events, on the phone, and meeting with businesses to build relationships and generate new opportunities. We're looking for someone who is motivated to open doors, earn trust, and create traction locally. For the right person, this is a chance to take ownership of a territory, gain momentum early, and play a key role in launching a new office within a strong regional brand.

What You'll Do

  • Prospect and engage companies through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and in-person visits
  • Build relationships with HR leaders, department heads, and business owners to uncover hiring challenges
  • Generate new client partnerships by introducing Spherion's staffing and workforce solutions
  • Execute a proven sales model to identify opportunities and grow market presence
  • Own the full sales cycle, from initial outreach through contract execution
  • Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline through consistent activity and follow-up
  • Establish visibility in the local business community through events, chambers, and industry groups
  • Partner closely with the Branch Manager and recruiting team as the office grows
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach, meetings, and opportunities within CRM systems
  • Stay informed on local workforce trends and employer hiring needs

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong relationships or familiarity with the Fox Valley business community
  • 2 years of experience in recruiting, business development, or B2B sales
  • Experience in staffing and recruiting is preferred; candidates with strong B2B sales experience in the local market will also be considered
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and building relationships from scratch
  • Competitive, persistent, and motivated by building new partnerships
  • Resourceful, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation includes a competitive base salary plus a commission structure with strong earning potential tied to performance.
