Role Overview The Training Coordinator is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving hands-on training programs that develop the technical skills, safety awareness, and career progression of our manufacturing workforce. Core Duties and Responsibilities
Training Program Development and Delivery
- Design and deliver structured training programs for CNC Machinists, Press Brake Operators, Welders, Estimators, and Maintenance Technicians.
- Develop multi-year training paths that combine classroom instruction, hands-on shop-floor application, and mentorship.
- Establish measurable skill levels and training milestones aligned with job roles and production requirements.
- Integrate industry-recognized certifications (e.g., NIMS) to validate competency.
Shop-Floor Engagement
- Act as a hands-on trainer directly on the shop floor, supporting employees in real-time problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Reinforce best practices related to machining accuracy, safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Support early-shift and production-critical training needs as required.
Learning Systems and Tools
- Administer and manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as ToolingU and NIMS platforms.
- Align training records with ERP and CMMS systems.
- Develop and maintain training documentation, SOPs, and visual aids suitable for shop-floor use.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Deliver and support safety training, including machine safety and hazard awareness.
- Support Metal Process Improvement (MPI) and quality standards.
- Ensure training reinforces quality standards and aerospace/defense compliance expectations.
Workforce Development and Retention
- Partner with HR and Operations to link training completion to skill recognition and career progression.
- Identify skill gaps and proactively develop training solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous learning.
Communication and Translation Support
- Collaborate with bilingual coordinators to ensure Spanish-speaking employees receive accurate technical support.
- Emphasize demonstrations and visuals to account for varying literacy levels.
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree, trade school certification, or apprenticeship in a related field strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in a precision machining or fabrication environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing and delivering technical training programs.
- Proven ability to design multi-year development programs tied to performance and pay increases.
- Familiarity with industry platforms like NIMS and ToolingU.
- Experience supporting bilingual workforces and coordinating translated technical materials.
