What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Spherion Birmingham?
We are seeking a Buyer. Key job duties include but are not limited to:
- Manages various suppliers and products to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity to meet requirements.
- Assists Purchasing Manager in maintaining timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices.
- Researches information on potential suppliers to find new sources of material.
- Consults catalogs and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
- Prepares invitation of bid forms and forwards to supplier firms or for public posting.
- Prepares purchase orders.
- Works with suppliers to identify root cause and corrective action for purchased product that does not meet requirements.
- Confers with suppliers concerning deliveries.
- Negotiates prices, reviews specifications, delivery dates and presents information to supervisor for action.
- Performs vendor assessments.
- Assists with approval of invoice for payment.
Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or three to five years related experience.
Candidates must have the ability to work independently, have strong organizational skills and initiative while working with the group.
