Appointment: Full-time; probationary
Description: Self-contained 8:1:1 classroom utilizing positive behavioral support to address students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Required Credentials: N.Y.S. teacher certification (Special Education 1-6), successful prior teaching or student teaching experience, knowledge of N.Y.S. Learning Standards, collaborative team member, and technologically proficient.

- Knowledge of Committee on Special Education process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation and progress monitoring. General knowledge of elementary curriculum and instruction.
- Experience with providing special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment.
- Experience with developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs.
- Experience with establishing and maintaining open communication with parents, students, teachers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Experience utilizing de-escalation techniques and positive behavior intervention strategies to support students with behavioral, social-emotional needs.
- Knowledge of or experience implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and proactive classroom management strategies.
