Job Description: Data Center Schedule Controls Consultant (Primavera P6 / MS Project) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Schedule Controls Consultant to support mission-critical data center construction projects. This role is responsible for performing independent schedule reviews, ensuring alignment with construction sequencing, commissioning requirements, and overall project delivery milestones. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in CPM scheduling, Primavera P6/MS Project, and a strong understanding of data center build lifecycles, including MEP systems, commissioning, and turnover phases. Key Responsibilities Schedule Review & Validation Perform comprehensive reviews of project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project Validate schedule structure including: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Calendars and working time assumptions Activity coding and naming conventions Milestone definitions aligned to data center delivery phases (e.g., RFSU, mechanical completion, commissioning) Logic & Constructability Analysis Evaluate schedule logic, sequencing, and dependencies across all trades Identify and resolve: Open-ended or missing logic ties Out-of-sequence progress Improper or excessive constraints Ensure alignment with data center construction sequencing, including civil, structural, MEP installation, and commissioning integration Critical Path & Float Management Identify and validate the critical path and near-critical paths Analyze float distribution and schedule sensitivity Highlight: Negative float and schedule compression risks Logic breaks impacting milestone delivery Ensure critical path reflects real construction and commissioning priorities Schedule Quality Assurance Conduct schedule health checks aligned with DCMA 14-point or equivalent standards Assess: Activity durations and level of detail Use of leads/lags and relationship types Dependency accuracy across trades and vendors Identify gaps impacting schedule reliability and usability Progress & Performance Analysis Review periodic schedule updates and contractor submissions Analyze: Variances from baseline Forecasted completion dates Milestone performance (e.g., energization, commissioning, handover) Provide insight into trends affecting delivery timelines Risk Identification & Mitigation Identify schedule-related risks such as: Delays in long-lead equipment (switchgear, generators, chillers) Trade stacking and resource conflicts Commissioning and turnover sequencing risks Highlight key schedule drivers and high-risk activities impacting data center go-live dates Recommendations & Reporting Deliver clear, actionable recommendations to: Improve schedule logic and sequencing Mitigate risks and recover delays Enhance schedule transparency and reliability Prepare reports suitable for executive stakeholders, project teams, and contractors Qualifications Proven experience in data center construction or mission-critical projects Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project Strong knowledge of CPM scheduling methodologies and best practices Experience performing schedule health checks (DCMA 14-point preferred) Understanding of MEP systems, commissioning, and data center delivery milestones Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills Standards & Expectations All work must adhere to industry-standard CPM scheduling practices Deliverables must be clear, concise, and actionable Outputs should support: Project management decision-making Executive reporting Contractor coordination Preferred Experience Hyperscale or colocation data center builds Experience with commissioning schedules and integrated project timelines Familiarity with fast-track construction environments
