What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer III position at Spencer Ogden?
The Civil Project Engineer provides civil engineering leadership for natural gas capital projects, including gas distribution, transmission, city gates/regulator stations, compression and storage facilities. This individual will reside in the civil engineering group and support capital upgrade projects. The individual will be assigned to project teams consists of a multidiscipline group of project engineers, project managers, operations and others to support projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage 6β8 capital gas projects annually from initiation through closeout
- Oversee facility rebuilds, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and overall project performance
- Coordinate and oversee engineering service providers and external contractors
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and design packages
- Interface with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, operations, and construction teams
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Facilitate project meetings and communicate progress to key stakeholders
- Support permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget
Preferred Background:
- Civil or Structural Engineering experience
- Experience managing capital projects within gas utilities, electric utilities, power generation, industrial facilities, or water/wastewater environments
- Strong understanding of engineering design, construction management, and contractor oversight
- Experience managing engineering consultants and reviewing technical drawings
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
