Data Center Construction Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Construction Manager to oversee the execution of data center construction projects in Amarillo, TX. This role will be responsible for managing site operations, vendor activities, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and procedural standards. The successful candidate will have deep experience with mechanical and electrical systems, data center environments, and construction project management tools—including Procore.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and internal procedures
- Develop and manage Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Major Change Management (MCM) documentation
- Ensure vendors execute work per approved MOPs; escalate any procedural deviations or safety concerns to the CPI Project Manager
- Maintain regular, clear communication with the CPI PM to report project progress and issues
- Coordinate project schedules and align deliverables with project milestones
- Conduct daily morning briefings to communicate scope of work and safety protocols to on-site crews
- Document and submit weekly status updates to stakeholders
- Manage logistics and receive scheduled deliveries to the job site
- Interpret construction drawings and building systems to guide project execution
- Identify project risks and impacts, and propose effective mitigation strategies
- Troubleshoot and resolve both technical and operational issues
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in on-site construction trades (mechanical, electrical, or general contracting)
- 5 years of vendor management experience in construction environments
- 5 years supporting data center construction projects
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure within data centers
- Proficiency with Procore construction management software (required)
- NFPA70E Certification (required)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong problem-solving ability
- Able to read and interpret construction drawings and system schematics
- Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Physically able to move and stand on site for up to 8 hours per day
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Familiarity with construction scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
- Experience on large-scale or phased construction projects
