What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Team Chair position at Spencer-E Brookfield Reg School District - SS?
This is the position of Team Chair – Special Education. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to oversee and implement (with the Director of Student Services and Principals’ support and supervision) a school’s entire Special Education process, procedures, and services.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The Team Chair reports to the Director of Student Services, in consultation with School Building Administrator
DUTIES:
1. Interprets Special Education regulations to parent, staff and agencies involved.
2. Receives referrals and facilitates the evaluation process.
3. Receives the written assessments of initial evaluation from Team members, coordinates the components; assessments and directs the Team Meeting.
4. Develops and maintains accurate records of initial referrals, re-evaluations and reviews.
5. Acts as a consultant to school staff with respect to time lines and procedures for Team meetings in accordance with state and federal regulations.
6. Coordinates the scheduling of re-evaluation meetings and includes information from outside agencies (DCF,DYS,DMR,DMH, private mental health agencies, private hospitals) that serve the special education child/parents.
7. Meets with parents, as needed, to explain the Team evaluating process and discuss the recommendations resulting from such an evaluation.
8. Assures the proper completion of mandated paperwork for meetings, assessments and IEPs
9. Monitors compliance with timelines and procedures for evaluations, the development, of IEPs and progress reports.
10. Informs the Director of Student Services and the building administrator if time lines are not met.
11. Chairs initial, annual and re-evaluation meetings.
12. Consults with team members about behavior plans, curriculum modifications and social skills training programs. Provides staff with resources, tools, and in-class modeling of techniques.
13. Develops and oversees educational plans for in-classroom implementation and assesses the progress of effectiveness of such plans and curriculum modifications.
14. Attends home visits regularly and coordinates communications between home and school with regard to home-based goals and issues. Provides consultation and recommendations to parents regarding behavior and social issues. Supervises develops, and monitors home-based goals and objectives with home-based staff and parents.
15. Ensures timely completion of school and home-based plans and progress reports.
16. Helps to maintain district-wide daily data collection systems.
17. Assists coordination of grade-level transitions.
18. Schedules and facilitates parent progress meetings.
19. Attends appropriate training to maintain proficiency in data collection, current behavioral modification research trends, and current skills training programs (i.e. mandated training, verbal behavior programming, etc.)
20. Other duties as required by the Superintendent of Schools.

Work involves student interaction, and is performed primarily in an office or classroom setting.
Salary : $60,563 - $102,074
