Yard Manager and Retail Floor Associate

Summary

As a Yard and Retail Floor Associate at Spence Hardware, you are responsible for ensuring every customer is greeted, feels welcome, and receives immediate help as well as managing products within our yard and storefront. We are known as the hometown hardware store and more and are looking for a dedicated, hard-working, and team oriented person to add to our team! Previous retail experience strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance with locating products, and help solve problems.
• Manage products along the front of the store, within the yard, and in warehouses.
• Promptly handle outside load outs such as bulk material, propane, fencing, culvert, etc.
• Receive, stock, and organize merchandise; perform inventory counts; and maintain a clean and well-stocked store.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of farm, ranch, and hardware products (like fencing, culvery, landscape products) to effectively assist customers and make recommendations.
• Keep outdoor spaces and warehouses tidy and organized, ensure signage is current, and assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 60lbs or more unassisted, and perform tasks that involve bending, reaching, and carrying.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and collaborate within a team.
• Good phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone is a plus.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail to keep the store orderly and stocked.
• Basic knowledge in lawn and garden, hardware, plumbing, electrical, fencing, and farm supplies sets you apart as a candidate.
• Experience operating a forklift and skid loader is a significant plus.
