Summary
As a Retail Sales Floor Associate at Spence Hardware, you are responsible for ensuring every customer is greeted, feels welcome, and receives immediate assistance. We are known as the hometown hardware store and more and are looking for a dedicated, hard-working, and team oriented person to add to our team! Previous retail experience strongly desired. Students are welcome to apply, but this position requires weekend and 7am-7pm weekday availability.
Basic knowledge in paint strongly desired. Additional knowledge in lawn and garden, hardware, plumbing, electrical, and farm supplies sets you apart as a candidate.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers, provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance with locating products, and help solve problems.
- Receive, stock, and organize merchandise; perform inventory counts; and maintain a clean and well-stocked store.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of hardware products to effectively assist customers and make recommendations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift 60lbs or more unassisted, and perform tasks that involve bending, reaching, and carrying.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and collaborate within a team.
- Good phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone is a plus.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail to keep the store orderly and stocked.
- Experience operating a forklift and skid loader is a significant plus.
