Position Overview
This role is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a designated portfolio of retail properties. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in property accounting, thrives in a fast-paced growth environment, and enjoys partnering with operations and property management teams. This is a hybrid role based in Franklin, TN, with regular in-office collaboration required.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting for assigned properties
- Perform recurring and non-recurring accounting entries, including estimates and balance corrections
- Review and tie out balance sheet accounts such as bank accounts, prepaid items, asset schedules, and obligations
- Play an active role in monthly and annual closing activities
- Track, reconcile, and manage recoverable operating costs, including common area charges, property taxes, and insurance
- Participate in the development of annual operating budgets and periodic financial outlooks
- Investigate and explain differences between planned and actual financial performance
- Partner with property management teams to review expenses, operating trends, and tenant-related activity
- Prepare and review tenant invoices for rent, operating expense reimbursements, and other billable charges
- Support annual reconciliation processes and tenant settlements related to operating cost recoveries
- Provide schedules, reports, and supporting detail to external audit and tax advisors as requested
- Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP standards and internal control requirements
- Maintain well-organized financial files and supporting documentation
- Manage end-to-end accounts receivable and accounts payable processes for assigned properties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- 3–5 years of experience
- Experience handling full-cycle AP and AR
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working in a growing organization where processes continue to evolve
