Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

o Education: Must have completed high school or general education development equivalency. Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

o Degree: NA

o Experience: Must have at least 1 year experience as a Radiographic Technologist

o Mandatory Certifications:

o Must have current BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

o ARRT Certification

o License: Active ARRT license from any state

o Security Clearance: Must have a clear background in order to pass the Government Military base security clearance - must also be a US Citizen to work on base.

o Familiar with organization structure and operation methods of Air Force

o Possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Effectively use correct grammar and spelling in all written communications.

Duties

• Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the TO.
• Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology Department policies and procedures.
• Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.
• Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
• Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.
• Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.
• As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer and MTF policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.
• Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated Government personnel. Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and record the problem condition in the trouble call log book.
• Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.
• Operated fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce routine diagnostic medical images. Computes techniques and adjusts control panel settings such as kilovoltage, milliamperage, exposure time, and focal spot size.
• Upon being hired the HCW will be trained and expected to perform local tele-rad procedures, as there will not be a Radiologist on site.

Experience

• Proven experience in diagnostic radiology with proficiency in X-ray, CT, mammography, DEXA scans, PET scans, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and interventional radiography.
• Prior work in emergency room or urgent care environments demonstrating ability to perform under pressure.
• Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and radiation safety procedures essential for accurate imaging and patient safety.
• Familiarity with implementing radiation safety protocols across diverse clinical settings.
• Demonstrated competence in operating advanced medical imaging equipment and performing diagnostic evaluations effectively.
• Strong understanding of medical imaging principles within the context of diagnostic radiology.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical scenarios including trauma cases requiring immediate imaging support.
• Previous experience in emergency medicine or trauma centers will be considered an asset.
