Overview:

The Sr. Engineering Lead- Integration is responsible for translating new product concepts, workflow innovations, and emerging technologies into scalable, production ready manufacturing systems. The role sits within the Integration Engine of the Smart Innovation and Integration organization and serves as the bridge between innovation, operations, and commercialization.


This person ensures that the validated innovations and new product developments move efficiently through pilot production into stable, repeatable manufacturing processes while operating under the following doctrine:


Move Fast. Rapid response to customer and market opportunities

Fail Fast. Use pilot programs to identify risks early.

Learn Fast. Leverage pilot data and field feedback to refine process design.

Lock Stability Quickly. Enforce engineering phase gates before production to scale.

Protect Margin. Validate labor reductions, yield, and cost targets prior to commercial launch.


We are looking for a hands-on, resourceful Sr. Engineering lead that can take the Integration team to the next level which will require strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to rapidly deploy new workflows in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced start up like environment and who wants to be a part of shaping the foundation of a scalable and compliant manufacturing operation.


Key Responsibilities:

Integration Leadership

  • Lead end to end Integration process from concept to transfer through pilot production and early manufacturing ramp to commercialization.
  • Own engineering project execution for new product and workflow launches.
  • Support design transfer by partnering closely with R&D engineers to make prototypes manufacturable and repeatable.
  • Coordinate engineering builds, validation runs, and manufacturing launch readiness activities.
  • Facilitate technical reviews and launch readiness meetings.
  • Partner with Innovation engineering, New Product Development, Clinical partners, Operations, CI, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Customer Service, etc. to ensure a systems view and cross functional approach to successful Integration execution.


Project Management

  • Plan, manage, and execute multiple Integration projects simultaneously ensuring alignment with business goals and metrics.
  • Own and administer standard Integration phase gate processes and milestone deliverables for engineering projects.
  • Track all Integration engineering project progress using visual project tracking and communicate results through concise, data-driven reporting.
  • Track technical risks and drive resolutions.
  • Ensure that all Integration projects meet cost, timeline, and performance objectives.


Integration Engineering

  • Translate new product/process development concepts into scalable and repeatable manufacturing workflows.
  • Analyze engineering specs, develop, and validate design to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) strategies.
  • Define manufacturing requirements for new products and processes.
  • Integrate new materials, equipment, tooling/fixtures, and technologies into existing manufacturing processes or for new products.


Pilot Production, Manufacturing Development, and Scale-Up

  • Provide training on new product/process developments.
  • Lead pilot production runs in order to validate manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze results, identify defects, and implement corrective actions during pilot.
  • Ensure cost targets and margin expectations are met prior to launch.
  • Ensure smooth transition and production readiness to full scale manufacturing by defining, getting buy-off, and meeting stability metrics for new product/process developments related to cycle time, yield, and process capability.


Documentation

  • Create and maintain manufacturing workflows, SOPs, Work Instructions, Test Plans, Labor Standards, Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, and Training documentation for Integration engineering projects.


Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce labor cost.
  • Implement automation, workflow improvements, and digital process integrations.
  • Investigate pilot production issues during pilot launch and serve as a consultant during early manufacturing ramp up.
  • Apply structured Lean and Six Sigma tools as necessary


Who We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or related engineering discipline required.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Belt certification a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing or product development environments required.
  • Integration in a fast-paced high volume manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Manufacturing process development with automation/equipment integration preferred.
  • Pilot production and process validations required.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA, ISO 13485, AS9100, or similar) a plus.
  • Experience with CAD
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • PFMEA
  • Digital workflow systems
  • Proficiency in project management, documentation, and structured problem-solving (PDCA, DMAIC, or A3).
  • Familiarity with process validation, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and statistical analysis
  • Ability to drive projects through ambiguity.
  • High accountability for execution and results.
  • Hands-on ability to collect and analyze process data to make data driven decisions that will impact changes within the manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills across engineering and operations teams.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $130,000-$150,000. Final compensation will be individually assessed and may differ based on a variety of factors such as your experience, qualifications, education, skill set, certifications, and other relevant considerations.
