Senior General Accountant

About the Opportunity
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior General Accountant to join a growing Corporate Accounting team supporting a leading manufacturing organization. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, driving process improvements, partnering with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior staff while contributing to a fast-paced corporate accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Analyze general ledger activity and investigate financial variances.
- Prepare complex journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Research and apply U.S. GAAP guidance for technical accounting matters.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and external reporting requirements.
- Support mergers and acquisitions, including acquisition accounting, integration activities, reconciliations, and technical accounting documentation.
- Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights.
- Develop financial reports and perform large-scale data analysis using ERP systems, Excel, and business intelligence tools.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a small accounting team.
- Participate in special projects and corporate accounting initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience working within a large corporate accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Financial reporting and general ledger accounting experience.
- Technical accounting experience.
- Experience supporting month-end close processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets.
- Experience working with enterprise ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing industry accounting experience.
- Public accounting or external audit background.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
- Experience supporting acquisition accounting and M&A integrations.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience working in fast-paced, growth-oriented organizations.
