Position Title: Quality Assurance Inspector, Inventory Control Clerk
Work Location: Shelton, CT
Assignment Duration: 12 Months
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Pay Range: $ 23-25/hr
Position Summary: This is a hybrid role. The work of the position will range from component inspection to inventory control activities, with the team member being responsible for accepting product through incoming shipments, inspecting, filing paperwork, and physically moving and shipping product when complete.
Background & Context: With direction from the Supervisor(s) work could be in either one of the areas during the course of a day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection of components, subassemblies and finished product in accordance with released inspections plans.
- Follow written procedures utilized for inspection.
- Complete inspection paperwork on a computer in accordance with established procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Use MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook) to open files and perform data entry tasks.
- Generate Non-conformance Reports for submitted product found out of specification.
- Perform visual inspections using the unaided eye as well as a microscope.
- Perform physical inspections with basic inspection tools: caliper, micrometer, pin gages, gage blocks, etc.
- Follow written procedures utilized for inspection.
- Interact with personnel from departments outside of the Quality Inspection department, i.e. Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering, etc.
- Receive incoming components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
- Accurately log and assign incoming inspection numbers to received materials.
- Create labels for materials as they move through the inspection process (receiving, quarantine, accepted, rejected).
- Physically move inventory into receiving area, quarantine area, warehouse, and out to suppliers.
- Using web-based software to create shipping documents.
- Physically prepare items for shipping (boxes, pallets, etc)
- Using web portals, schedule pick-ups and deliveries of materials between various locations.
- Coordinate activities of outside suppliers in the accomplishment of sterilization related testing activities.
- Assist with requests related to inventory counts and fulfillment.
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to use simple hand-held measuring devices.
- Ability to read standard operating procedures and packaging configuration drawings; basic understanding of engineering drawings required.
- Working knowledge of sampling techniques (e.g., ANSI Z1.4.), Good Manufacturing Practices and other regulatory standards required.
- Use MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook) to open files and perform data entry tasks.
- Use of web-based portals.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
- Computer literate with intermediate familiarity with MS Excel, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to foster positive relationships with all internal and external (sales) personnel.
- Results oriented with the ability to accomplish work in a team environment.

- Demonstrated enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

- Demonstrated analytical skills, especially in the areas of process improvement and problem solving.
- High school Diploma or GED required plus three to five years of experience as a Quality Inspector or as a manufacturing Operator or Assembler, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in an inspection department for a GMP, or other regulated industry, is a plus.
- Experience in material handling a plus.
