Job Title: Maintenance Technician Facilities
Location: York, NE 68467
Duration: 2 Months
Schedule: Sunday–Saturday (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (2 on/3 off/3 on/2 off rotation)
Pay Rate: $23.00/hour
Role Summary:
Responsible for supporting plant operations through hands-on maintenance, equipment reliability, facility upkeep, and safety-focused tasks. This role ensures proper set-up, calibration, preventative maintenance, and documentation of plant equipment while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment. The technician contributes to day-to-day plant performance, seasonal preparation, and continuous operational support across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant & Equipment Support
- Support daily plant operations and assist with maintenance needs across the facility.
- Deliver maintenance support for capital projects and mechanical systems.
- Assure proper set-up, calibration, operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities.
- Maintain plant shop organization and ensure proper care of maintenance tools.
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
- Conduct seasonal preparation activities, including annual preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment improvements.
- Utilize predictive maintenance tools to detect equipment issues and prevent future machine failures.
- Create, update, and train staff on preventative maintenance plans for various types of equipment.
- Maintain detailed equipment records, documentation, and mechanical prints.
Facility & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform grounds and facility maintenance as required to support overall plant functionality.
- Complete fabrication projects as needed to improve plant processes and operational efficiency.
Safety & Compliance
- Support Process Safety Management and contribute to overall safety programs at the location.
- Work safely in varied environments, including elevated surfaces and physical labor settings.
- Follow all safety protocols when working with equipment, tools, and facility areas.
- General Operations
- Assist team members with physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 pounds (with or without accommodation).
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational continuity.
Must Have Skills:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work at heights above 25 feet with appropriate fall protection.
- Beginner-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and work in warehouse/mechanical environments.
- Willingness to work overtime, rotational shifts, and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of production agriculture and related machinery.
- Basic understanding of building electrical systems.
- Welding and/or millwright skills relevant to equipment and seed-industry needs.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic repair and testing.
- Basic process control knowledge.
- Two or more years of industrial electromechanical experience or education.
- Experience with CMMS or related systems (e.g., SAP) for work orders and parts inventory.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Ability to pass background checks and all pre-employment screenings.
- Reliable transportation and consistent on-site attendance.
- Strong work ethic, honesty, and respectful communication.
- Ability to work long hours, rotational shifts, and overtime when required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work indoors/outdoors and on uneven surfaces.
Special Requirements:
Steel-toe work boots required.
