Spectra Tech, Inc. is seeking an Engineer (Shipping Container Emergency Response) in West Mifflin, PA.
Position Summary:
Spectra Tech Inc. is seeking an Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory’s (NNL) Shipping Container Emergency Response Team (SCERT) in West Mifflin, PA. This role is focused on developing emergency response plans, procedures, tabletop exercises, and training related to radiological material shipping containers. The engineer will not respond to emergencies in person but will coordinate with SCERT and stakeholders to ensure readiness and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead emergency preparedness exercises, including tabletop scenarios.
- Prepare operating procedures and deliver technical training sessions.
- Coordinate emergency response planning with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and understand safety analyses, design documents, and regulatory standards for radiological shipping containers.
- Support other engineering and business functions within the Reactor Servicing organization as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical/scientific discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with 10CFR71 and radiological material shipping containers.
- Experience in emergency response coordination and safety analysis.
- Background in developing and delivering technical training and exercises.
Additional Information:
- Position requires minimal travel for summits and preparedness exercises.
- This is a non-field role with no direct emergency site response responsibilities.
