At Specialized Residential Services, we provide person-centered care in a warm, home-like environment for adults in our Adult Foster Care (AFC) homes. We’re looking for compassionate, reliable, and energetic Direct Care Workers who are passionate about making a meaningful difference every day.
What You’ll Do – Every Shift Makes a Difference:
- Build genuine connections by providing companionship, encouragement, and a positive presence.
- Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and document changes in physical, mental, and emotional well-being, reporting promptly to supervisors and healthcare providers.
- Assist with personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and incontinence care) with dignity and respect.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
- Support safe transfers and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
- Accompany residents to medical appointments, community events, and enjoyable outings.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment through light housekeeping and infection-control practices.
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in direct care, caregiving, or a related healthcare role strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) medication administration and best practices in developmental disability/aging care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a naturally compassionate approach.
- Physical ability to assist with transfers, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and daily activities.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license preferred.
