About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mitigation Operations Manager to take ownership of a growing commercial mitigation department in Chicago.
The operation currently has approximately 12–13 technicians and lead technicians, with plans to significantly expand the team and production capacity. Approximately 90% of the work is commercial, with average losses in the $20K–$30K range and production currently averaging slightly more than one loss per day.
This is an opportunity for a proven mitigation leader who knows how to build teams, establish structure, improve operations, and scale a department.
What You’ll Own
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the water and fire mitigation department
- Manage, coach, and develop approximately 12–13 technicians and lead technicians
- Build the department toward 2X current staffing and production capacity
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain field personnel
- Establish operational protocols, procedures, and training programs
- Improve production efficiency, job flow, documentation, quality control, and accountability
- Manage temporary labor resources while developing a stronger internal workforce
- Develop Lead Technicians and future field leaders
- Create structure around scheduling, staffing, equipment, production, and job profitability
- Determine when and how to add employees as production volume increases
- Build a culture where technicians want to stay, perform, and grow
- Partner with ownership and leadership on the strategic growth of the mitigation division
- Maintain high standards for commercial restoration and customer service
Ideal Background
- Currently managing a mitigation operation or have recently managed one at meaningful scale
- Proven ability to own an operation, not simply supervise technicians
- Strong experience with water and fire mitigation
- Demonstrated success building and scaling mitigation departments
- Experience recruiting, retaining, and developing field personnel
- Strong commercial restoration and larger-loss experience
- Ability to implement processes, protocols, training, and accountability
- Experience developing Lead Technicians and field leadership
- Strong operational and organizational skills
- Ability to transition a department from reactive to structured, scalable, and accountable
- Proven leadership style that gets people to buy into the vision and follow their leadership
Compensation
- $100,000–$150,000 base salary, depending on experience and capabilities
- Additional commission/incentive opportunity
- Company is willing to pay toward the top of the range for the right leader
