Job Description

The Quality DFC / NPI Engineer is responsible for supporting Design for Conformal Coating (DFC) process reviews, manufacturability assessments, technical risk analysis, and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for PCBAs requiring conformal coating, staking, potting, encapsulation, bonding, masking, stripping, or other polymeric application processes. This role serves as a critical interface to ensure the customer board design and technical data package (TDPs) process requirements are technically aligned with applicable industry fabrication requirements, and feasible to manufacture prior to production release. The engineer will support continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve reliability, reduce customer escapes, and strengthen process standardization across multi-site operations.


Responsibilities

•Support sales team during board quoting and customer onboarding activities.

•Perform formal DFC reviews for new and existing PCB assemblies.

•Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, TDPs, and workmanship requirements to ensure compliance.

•Evaluate customer design requirements against IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-CC-830, NASA, and other applicable industry standards.

•Assist with obtaining complete customer technical documentation packages.

•Participate in customer technical review meetings and quality discussions.

•Provide manufacturability feedback and risk assessments.

•Evaluate PCB fabrication, component packaging type, and component spacing for process compatibility.

•Knowledge of polymerics conformal coating materials.

•Document JIRA DFC review reports and risk mitigation recommendations.

•Support NPI builds and first article manufacturing readiness activities.

•Support development of masking methods and coating application strategies.

•Support RCCA investigations pertaining to PCB design related issues.

•Ensure customer requirements are translated into manufacturing and inspection criteria.


Required Qualifications

•Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Electronics, or related technical discipline preferred.

•Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, conformal coating, Quality Engineer in the Aerospace, Defense and Medical Industries, Commercial Industry

•Strong understanding of IPC, MIL standards and polymeric applications.

•Strong experience reviewing customer drawings, technical data packages and work instructions.

•PCBA Quality Process Development

•Experience with JIRA

•Strong communication, documentation and customer interaction skills.

•NASA 8739 Workmanship Training

Salary : $95,000 - $159,999
